Best Wood Smoker Reviews
Bradley BTIS1 Original Fully Automatic 4-Rack Outdoor Food SmokerIf an automatic four rack outdoor smoker sounds like it is just up your alley, then the Bradley BTIS1 may just be what you are looking for. It has a stunningly simple design including a stainless steel interior that gives you an amazing 2288 cubic inch workspace. The front opening door and door mounted thermometer make it convenient and simple to use. Small wood bisquettes are usually used, and these only need to be refuelled every 8 hours or so. You can use your favorite types of wood to provide hickory, oak, or mesquite flavor in your BBQ
This means that for the frequent smoker you can leave things overnight without having to check on refuelling. The automatic temperature control allows you to be confident that your smoking will be successful, and the classic style is easy to use and keep clean with it's tray and drip bowl. For wet smoking you have to keep an eye on the water level from time to time, but especially dry smoking is effortless and fun with this model. It would not be difficult to smoke a lot of food with this unit. Learn more about this wood smoker
Masterbuilt 20070106 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse SmokerMasterbuilt's equivalent model is the 20070106 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker. It is almost identical in appearance to the Bradley smoker described above, but the controls are located on top of the smoker instead of alongside making them more accessible and making the unit take up less floorspace. It has a digitally programmable controller with a safety and time cut out, and the same four rack configuration.
A side mounted wood tray and rear accessible grease tray make it simple to refuel and clean. The patented air damper design allows perfect smoke control. The Masterbuilt design is fully insulated so it is both economical and environmentally friendly. The four racks give an impressive amount of smoking space, and it is easy to keep different items separated from each other. Learn more about this smoker
Char-Griller 2137 Outlaw 1038 Square Inch Charcoal Grill / SmokerThe Char-Griller 2137 Outlaw 1038 Square Inch Charcoal Grill / Smoker is a different beast to the other two. It is a more traditional barrel on stand configuration, which gives it an impressive cooking area of 1065 Sq In. To combat corrosion it is made from heavy gauge steel and has a double reinforced bottom. The cast iron cooking grates give your food an even heat and help to seal in all the wonderful flavours you are trying to preserve. Cast iron grates have proven to be much more resistant to food sticking than any modern materials. The extra side firebox allows this largely grill oriented unit into a magnificent smoker.
The charcoal gives a variable heat throughout the smoker allowing it to offer a hot side and a cold side simultaneously. You can position your foods so they smoke or cook at the right rate to all be finished at the same time. Easy to be assembled on delivery, and dead simple to operate, this unit is an excellent one for the purist who doesn't need an automatic system. Excellent price and value make this smoker a strong contender. Learn more about this smoker
Considering the near identical nature of the first two smokers, the choice between them is as a result of the layout and the price. Priced fairly close, the Masterbuilt is the cheaper unit, although neither come close to the value of the Char-Griller. For a modern, simple smoker I would prefer to choose the Masterbuilt both for price and layout, although I think if I was just starting out with smoking I would be very happy to get The Char-Griller, because the purist in me believes that starting with a traditional basic model is the best way to learn. So that should help you choose from the best wood smokers.
